I've been doing a bit of teaching up in Sydney, and have been staying overnight with a lovely friend.

What fun we've been having! Monday night we went for a lovely wander through the streets of Surry Hills, and checked out a few shops I've seen on the bloggoshpere but never actually made it to...

Next time I might even make it during opening times...

So the soil at our new(ish) place is gold!! Anything I throw into the ground just rockets along!

How lucky am I??





My meals have been full of fresh greens that are bursting with flavour and goodness... YUM!

Just a quick post to say - I love my family - they totally rock, and I would be lost without them...

With a small person in plaster, and a partner who is eternally busy, my dear mum has come to the rescue and flown down to give me time to work... What an amazing woman... Such an inspiration.

And both of my big sisters have offered to take time off work and come too - they also are irreplaceable!

I love you all family, especially my dad, who kindly sends my mum off on these emergency visits, and takes care of himself while she's away. Thanks for being so flexible Dad. And for taking awesome photos.

Here be the mighty cucumber (or cubunga as the little person used to call it when he first started speaking) that survived the first round of germination.

Look at the healthy green glow! Marvel at its sturdy stalk, holding the leaves AND seed husk high!

"I am the fittest!" it seems to shout. "I will survive!"

I'm hoping the magic beans will be equally fiesty... They are just starting to poke their heads out of the soil...

You can see my dismal failure rate in the first round of planting (in the background). Note to self - remember to water every day. And if I'm away, arrange for someone else to do it!

The bog roll seedling trays are an ace idea courtesy of the wonderful Whole Larder Love. Once the seeds have germinated, they just get planted in the ground, and the cardboard breaks down in the soil - a lot less transplant shock!
