photo booth testing...

It's all about the image quality isn't it? Well, although my trusty iPhone has been my constant companion thus far, I think it's time to move on!

I found a super-fab book on this great blog, The Daily Smudge. After reading through the really simple, straightforward language, I made a test photo rig today...

What a difference! A simple sheet of white paper as a drop, and a reflector made of alfoil...

As Mr Fixit and I ramp up our on-line shop, these new skills have come just in time! Thanks Emily!

tomato chutney...

This lovely little pot came from a car boot sale I had today with some friends... Why is it that when I do this to shed "stuff", I end up coming home with more??

One good thing came from this, however! It prompted me to make some tomato chutney, using the gazillion cherry tomatoes that are ripening in the garden.

YUM!

silver Cambridge satchel time... gasp!

I love competitions!! And I've loved these satchels for yonks... Ever since I saw them a couple of years ago on a random blog...

Thanks to dear Miss Pen Pen at Cottage Industry (don't I WISH her shop was in MY neighbourhood!) and her shop's 4th birthday celebrations, this silver beauty is now on my arm!! Wow!

I still can't really believe my good fortune... Every time I walk out the door, I look down and smile.

If you would like your very own Cambridge Satchel, but live far away from Fitzroy, you can buy them from Cottage Industry's online shop... simple!

fishie fish...

Mr Fixit has been expanding his L.E.D. empire, with a project made in collaboration with the National Maritime Museum in Sydney.

We went to the opening, as a family! Darling Harbour and the city looked so pretty...

In the exhibition we found this stunning model, made by Lawrence Hargrave in the late 1800s. It's a prototype of a ship design, that moves like a fish.

Lawrence Hargrave is an important figure where we live, near to Lawrence Hargrave Drive. His flight experiments were conducted up the coast a bit, at Stanwell Park.

This is the L.E.D. work itself - over a hundred L.E.D.s were lit by micro-controllers, to light up in wave-like motion across the wall, which was made up of lots of strange fish names...

The exhibition is open until 1 October, with some great Australian works of art, featuring... fish!

last week I...

Turned this...

Into this!

It's a sample for a corporate office project I'm hoping to win... I made it to explain the concept.

I think they liked it...

rug test...

I've been testing some materials and designs for my forthcoming on-line store with Mr Fixit...

Sneak peek for you, my lovelies!

It's getting larger... and larger... That's one roll of 5mm cotton rope... I wonder how big the next one will make it...?

Then, as I was fresh out of ideas for dinner, I made spaghetti and meatballs... with super meatballs leftover from our neighbour's birthday party. (Thanks Mal and Shazz xo)

And we all chatted about the movie "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" while we ate it!

Flynt... you have a call, Flynt, you have a call!

concrete floor...

So another job has been ticked off the ever-expanding to-do list... We've painted the floor of the "patio" as we like to call this weird lean-to structure that's tacked onto the side of our house.

First, we acid etched it, with a watered-down mix of hydrochloric acid, to make sure the paint would stick...

We used Berger JetDry paving paint, cutting in around the edges with a large brush...

Then rollered the rest... That concrete was so old it really soaked up a LOT of paint...

We should do another coat, but will leave that for another day, when our budget permits!

I've still got a lot of breeze block painting to do yet... And the rest of the walls. But for now, the future ping pong room is coming along nicely...

Now, if only I had a nice little Tiki Bar for the end of the room, plus a few potted palms and some cane lounging chairs...
